Audirvana launches its version 3.1 with UPnP/DLNA streaming capabilities
After a beta test period, the 3.1 version of Audirvana, the famous audiophile player for Mac appreciated to the extreme by audiophiles from all over the world, and particularly those living in the Land of the Rising Sun, is now available and opens up new possibilities for Mac computers.
Indeed, Damien Plisson, the creator of Audirvana, a player he continues to improve after a very successful integration of the Qobuz application in Hi-Res, has provided it with a UPnP/DLNA connection which compensates the limitation of the dated Apple Airplay wireless connection system (16-Bit/48 kHz!) and now allows Mac computers to wirelessly broadcast Hi-Res audio files up to 24-Bit/192 kHz (and also DSD) toward devices compatible with UPnP/DLNA, and there’s no shortage of those!
We can only welcome this progress (tested in its beta version and greatly appreciated by our colleague Benoît Rébus, who’s in charge of developing the integration of the Qobuz app with manufacturers) which will propel Audirvana, at first a (simple, so to speak) software player, at the level of the best existing mobile applications and thus benefit Qobuz in Hi-Res, which you will be able to stream from a Mac toward any sound reproduction system that includes a device, network player, amplifier or all-in-one system equipped with a network portion compatible with UPnP/DLNA!
Let’s hope that this application and all its possibilities will one day be offered in a version for PC. The complete version of the press release regarding Audirvana 3.1 is available here.
