We all know how television can jumpstart a career. Through the ‘True Detective’ series, The Handsome Family (who were previously a cult, underground Americana group) became chart toppers when they found their old song Far From Any Road being used to accompany the credits of the famous series produced by HBO... The same thing happened for S U R V I V E when the group from Austin suddenly had the spotlight on them thanks to their music for the ‘Stranger Things’ series. As experts in 80s synth, Kyle Dixon, Michael Stein, Adam Jones and Mark Donica know their sci-fi cinema classics inside out. So in RR7349, fans of film music by Dario Argento and John Carpenter, and lovers of scores written by German group Tangerine Dream and Italian group Goblin will find enough to satisfy their deepest thirsts. The (instrumental) music in S U R V I V E combines perfectly with all the genre’s effects, juggling oppressive and restless atmospheres with more spacey, and at times even psychedelic layers.
