Snake & Jet's Amazing Bullit Band

Snake and Jet's Amazing Bullit Band is actually just a duo -- Thor Rasmussen and Thomas Teilmann Frederiksen, from Copenhagen, Denmark -- but that doesn't stop them from making plenty of racket. They draw their primary inspiration from 1960s garage rock and surf music, slathering their tracks with authentically seedy organ licks and rough-edged bluesy guitar. But they're not straight-ahead revivalists, either, mixing in a fair amount of raw post-punk attitude and the occasional electronic embellishment to make for a skewed modern take on vintage rock & roll that calls to mind the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, with a more unambiguous sense of fun. They signed with Copenhagen's Crunchy Frog Recordings, home to such likeminded acts as the Tremolo Beer Gut, Powersolo, and the Raveonettes (as well as the original home of Spencer's duo Heavy Trash), and released their debut full-length, X-Ray Spirit, in 2007.
