Trio Isimsiz

Britain's Trio Isimsiz won several prestigious honors during its formative years, including a fellowship from the Borletti-Buitoni Trust. The group has delivered on its early promise, touring on several continents. Trio Isimsiz was founded in 2009 at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Pianist Erdem Misirlioglu, born in Suffolk, was of Turkish descent, and the self-deprecating name means "Trio No Name" in Turkish. The other two original members were violinist Pablo Hernán Benedí and cellist Michael Petrov; Petrov was supplanted by Edvard Pogossian in 2021. The trio members have flourishing individual careers; Benedí is a member of the Chiaroscuro Quartet, while Pogossian is a past Juilliard Concerto Competition winner, and Misirlioglu was a BBC Young Musician Competition finalist. The trio's training included master classes with the likes of pianists András Schiff and Menahem Pressler, cellist Steven Isserlis, and the Takács Quartet. The trio held residences at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland, and the Banff Center in Canada, and the group snared representation from the Young Classical Artists Trust in 2013. In 2017, Trio Isimsiz released its debut recording on the Rubicon Classics, featuring music by Beethoven, Brahms, and Toru Takemitsu. The following year, the group earned a Borletti-Buitoni Trust fellowship, which entailed not only financial support but also the commissioning of new works for the group to perform. Trio Isimsiz has given recitals in major European venues, including the Kölner Philharmonie in Germany, the Tivoli in Denmark, and Snape Maltings and Wigmore Hall in Britain. The group has been a familiar sight at festivals, including those in Stavanger, Norway, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, and Peasmarsh, England. The trio has also performed as far afield as China and Argentina. The members of Trio Isimsiz have served as Fellows at the Guildhall School. In 2019, the group performed Beethoven's Triple Concerto, Op. 56, at England's Brighton Festival. Trio Isimsiz's sophomore album, featuring works by Fauré, Schubert, and Brahms, appeared on Rubicon Classics in 2020. In 2022, the trio performed the world premiere of a new piano trio by Francisco Coll at the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical in Madrid. It has continued to perform the work, which appeared together with trios by Brahms and Erich Korngold on the third Trio Isimsiz album in late 2023.
