Ross Lynch

A singer, actor, and dancer, Ross Lynch built upon his early fame on the Disney Channel, eventually launching the sophisticated pop/rock outfit the Driver Era. Lynch initially came to the public's attention in 2010 along with his siblings in the group R5, but he gained wider attention starring in the Disney Channel productions Austin & Ally and Teen Beach Movie. Following the end of R5, Lynch and his brother Rocky Lynch founded the Driver Era, releasing 2019's X, 2021's Girlfriend, and 2022's Summer Mixtape. At the same time, he earned acclaim for his acting, including playing serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in My Friend Dahmer and starred has Harvey Kinkle in Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. In 2023, the Driver Era teased a fourth album with the single "Rumors." Born in 1995 in Littleton, Colorado, Lynch was home schooled and learned how to play piano, drums, and guitar. His family moved to Los Angeles when he was 12 to help his eldest brother, Riker, catch his big break in the entertainment industry. In 2009, Lynch was one of the Kidz Bop Kids and sang on Kidz Bop, Vol. 15, performing songs such as Katy Perry's "Hot & Cold." Ross, Riker, their brothers Rocky and Ryland, their sister Rydel, and their friend Ellington Ratliff performed together as the band R5, releasing the Ready, Set, Rock EP in 2010 and appearing on the School Gyrls' self-titled album that year. Lynch was also a member of the dance troupe Rage Boyz Crew and appeared on So You Think You Can Dance. Early in 2011, Lynch was cast as Austin on Austin & Ally, which told the story of a teenage boy who becomes a star soon after a video of him singing is posted online. Several videos and a single, "Heard It on the Radio," followed after the show's December 2011 premiere, and it was renewed for a second season in March 2012. The Austin & Ally soundtrack arrived that September, and Lynch remained busy with the 2013 Disney Channel movie Teen Beach Movie and R5, who also released the album Louder that year. Two years later, he had even more projects: Teen Beach 2 and its soundtrack, another R5 album (Sometime Last Night), and more music from Austin & Ally (Austin & Ally: Take It from the Top) all arrived in 2015. As Lynch matured, he began taking on more nuanced roles, including playing serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the 2017 biopic My Friend Dahmer. He also starred alongside Kiernan Shipka as the character Harvey Kinkle in the Netflix Archie Comics-inspired series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. While producing what would become the final R5 release, the New Addictions EP, brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch decided to shift gears, forming the duo the Driver Era. In March 2018, they debuted with the single "Preacher Man," which cracked the Top 40 of the Billboard alternative songs chart. It was included on their first album and BMG debut, June 2019's X. The Driver Era continued to release singles in a steady stream and maintained a presence on playlists and streaming charts before presenting their second album, Girlfriend, in October 2021. As the Girlfriend tour stretched into 2022, the brothers parted ways with BMG, then released their next long-player, September 2022's Summer Mixtape, on their own TOO Records. It included a duet with soul singer Nikka Costa. An international tour followed that included dates in Asia, Australia, and Europe. The non-album track "Rumors" arrived in December 2023.
