Monique Smit

Monique Smit is a Dutch pop singer and television celebrity who made her Top Five solo debut in 2007 after garnering fame on a couple reality shows. She is perhaps best known as the younger sister of Dutch pop superstar Jan Smit, whose popular reality show Gewoon Jan Smit (2005) introduced her to the Dutch public on a mass scale. Born on April 9, 1989, in Volendam, Netherlands, she garnered fame on not only Gewoon Jan Smit but also on the television reality show Just the Two of Us in 2007. She finished in second place behind first-place winner Edwin Evers on the show, and most importantly, her performance as the duet partner of Xander de Buisonjé established her as a prospective pop singer. Fresh from her second-place success on Just the Two of Us, Smit made her solo recording debut with the Top Five single "Wild" in 2007. The following year she released the Top Ten solo album debut Stel Je Voor (2008), which included the hit singles "Blijf Je Vanavond," "Vrouwenalfabet," and "Stel Je Voor," plus "Wild."
