Marcos Almeida

Singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and arranger Marcos Almeida became best known as a member of alt rock band Palavrantiga. Hailing from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, he began his musical career as a member of Heloisa Rosa's support band, providing backing vocals and playing keyboard. Almeida and fellow members of Rosa's band went on to form Palavrantiga in 2007. The group recorded two studio albums, 2010's Esperar é Caminhar and 2012's Sobre o Mesmo Chão. Alongside his work with the band, Almeida also provided compositions for Lorena Chaves and recorded the song "Vanidad" with Tanlan. Palavrantiga were awarded the Brazilian music award for Sobre o Mesmo Chão in 2013. The following year, Almeida decided to leave the group to pursue a solo career. He began recording what would become his debut solo record in 2015, and Eu Sarau, Parte 1 was released in 2016. That recording was swiftly followed by Eu Sarau, Parte 2, which was a departure from the quieter songs of Parte 1. Almeida described the collection as "street songs."
