Kirsten Sturm

A German organist and educator, Kirsten Sturm is a versatile musician who also plays piano recitals and appears as a chamber musician. She was enrolled at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main, studying organ with Martin Lücker. She continued her organ studies at Saarbrücken with Wolfgang Rübsam, and attended master classes with Michael Radulescu, Daniel Roth, Jean Guillou, Olivier Latry, and Heinz Wunderlich. Sturm has won awards in several organ competitions, notably taking first prize in 1999 in the Hermann Schroeder Competition. From 2006 to 2010, she was the organist at Holy Family Church in Frankfurt, and she served as artistic director of the concert program there. She also supervised an organ class in Mainz, and taught at the University for Ecclesiastical Music in Rottenburg. Her recordings of organ works by Max Reger and Paul Hindemith have appeared on the Naxos label.
