Haricharan

Born Haricharan Seshadri on March 20th, 1987, the Indian Carnatic maestro known mononymously as Haricharan grew up in a Tamil music family and began learning the traditions of the Indian classical music form at the age of seven. He kicked off his career just ten years later, recording his first Tamil film song for the 2004 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama Kaadhal scored by Joshua Sridhar, also going on to record three songs for the composer's debut movie. His first major breakthrough came in 2005 when "Unakkena Iruppen" from Kaadhal was nominated for the National Film Awards, paving the way for a string of follow-up commissions for music directors across the south, predominantly in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam languages. 2010 was another banner year for Haricharan with the release of "Thuli Thuli," which became a staple of singer Yuvan Shankar Raja. In 2012, Haricharan sang alongside Rajinikanth on the song "Maattram Ondrudhaan Maradhadhu" for the Kochadaiiyaan soundtrack, which was composed by the legendary A. R. Rahman and released in 2014. The following year, he scooped the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer for his contribution to Indian Malayalam-language coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama film Bangalore Days. He continued to build up a strong repertoire as a playback singer and vocalist over subsequent years, adding his voice to Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam language films. In 2021, he released the solo non-film song "Endhan Nenjodu," with lyrics and composition by Drummerprasad.
