Gábor Boldoczki

A native of Szeged, Hungary, trumpeter Gábor Boldoczki won the first prize of the National Trumpet Competition in Zalaegerszeg at the age of 14. He attended the Leó Weiner Conservatory and the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Budapest, and participated in master classes with Reinhold Friedrich. Boldoczki won the ARD International Music Competition in Munich at 21, and won the grand prize at the Third International Maurice André Competition, as well as the Prix Davidoff of the Reemtsma-Foundation and the Young Artist of the Year for 2002. He made his professional debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2004, which was followed with concerts across Europe, in which Boldoczki performed with many orchestras, including the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, and other ensembles. His touring has also taken him to Asia and South America. In 2010, Boldoczki was artist-in-residence at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. He has recorded for Hungaroton and Sony Classical.
