Amanda

Introduced with the aim of becoming a teen pop star, Amanda won attention when she became the first young female vocalist signed to Madonna's record label, Maverick Records, but her debut album and one single failed to register with the target audience.

Born in the French Alps, Amanda's family moved to Sweden when she was young and she began taking music and dance lessons. She appeared in a production of 'The Sound of Music' and performed on a Swedish television talent show called 'Little Stars'. Her singing attracted the attention of Stockholm-based singer and record producer Anders Bagge and a demo recording for his Murlyn Music production company came to the attention of Maverick Records.

She sang the song 'You Don't Stand a Chance', written by Christian Karlsson, Fredrik Odesjo, Nina Woodford and Hinrik Johnback, on the soundtrack of the 2000 animated feature 'Rugrats in Paris: The Movie' and the following year Maverick released her album, 'Everybody Doesn't'. A single release of the title track only reached number 81 on the Billboard Hot 100 and album sales were similarly poor. Dropped from the label, she signed with Signature Records and an album was due to be released in 2007 but it failed to appear.
