Adam Pieronczyk

Born on January 24, 1970 in Elblag, Poland, Adam Pierończyk is a jazz saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and producer. He is known as one of the most unique sax players in Poland and plays both the tenor and soprano saxophones. When he was eight years old, he began learning to play the piano. Three years later, at the age of 11, he switched his attention to learning to play the saxophone. His family relocated to Germany and enrolled in the Higher Music School’s jazz department. Since coming to prominence in the Polish jazz scene, Pierończyk has released over 20 albums as a solo artist, bandleader, or collaborator including Few Minutes in the Space (1997), Amusos (2002), El Buscador (2008), and The Planet of Eternal Life (2013). He has won numerous awards including being named Jazz Forum Magazine’s Best Soprano Saxophonist of the Year a record 15 times. He is also the recipient of two Fryderyk Awards (Poland’s Grammy Awards). Throughout his career, he’s worked with many other musicians including Archie Shepp, Sam rivers, Gary Thomas, Greg Osby, Bobby McFerrin, Branford Marsalis, Miroslav Vitous, and many others.
