À propos

Trois ans après leur jouissif premier album Sun Structures paru en 2014 et qui fleurait bon les Beatles, les Zombies et le Pink Floyd de l’ère Syd Barrett, Temples offre de nouvelles pilules psychédéliques enveloppées dans des sonorités 60’s/70’s. Mais pour Volcano, les quatre Britanniques ont très légèrement mis de côté les guitares au profit de synthés et claviers en tous genres. Dès les premières secondes de ce deuxième album, on reconnait toutefois aisément le style rétro de Temples et le caractère onirique et acidulé de leurs compositions. Une ambiance qui se frotte davantage aux sonorités contemporaines et n’est parfois pas sans rappeler la musique de Tame Impala. Moins direct que Sun Structures, Volcano est une évolution ludique osée et passionnante. Un disque moins typé que son prédécesseur, rythmiquement plus musclé et qui se bonifie au fil des écoutes. © MD/Qobuz
