On attendait beaucoup de la suite de Dutty Rock de Sean Paul, mais les fans qui comptaient sur une nouvelle édition de pop dancehall légère et fun seront grandement surpris. Le son de The Trinity est bien plus radical que son prédécesseur, avec une production orientée club. Des morceaux comme "Head in the Zone" et "Send It On" sont caractérisés par des rythmes dancehall entraînants, des rafales de chants hypnotiques et des touches de R'n'B urbain qui donnent aux chansons un éclat séduisant. Sean Paul pose des paroles sur le sexe, la fête et la belle vie, qui correspondent tout à fait à la musique pour la scène club contemporaine.
