Le public n’a pas encore digéré leur renversant premier album que les Doors enchaînent, en cette même année 1967, avec ces Strange Days. Etranges comme ces compositions qui ne ressemblent alors à celles d’aucun autre groupe. Des thèmes titubants et souvent assez oniriques. Bref, si Jim Morrison chante que les gens sont donc étranges (People Are Strange), on pourrait en dire autant de ses Doors… Changements de rythmes incessants, prose alternant entre critique sociale et pur délire et grands écarts entre transe totale et ballade de cabaret, tout ça fleure bon le cirque et l’attitude saltimbanque. Un peu à l’image de la pochette de l’album. Comme un inclassable cabaret dirigé par un Morrison plus habité que jamais (son monologue sur Horse Latitudes) et qui reste la cerise sur ce fascinant gâteau poétique et psychédélique… Pour les 50 ans de l’album, cette édition propose deux versions remastérisées : en stéréo et en mono. © MZ/Qobuz
