Afin de redorer son blason terni par ses « mauvaises fréquentations », Frank Sinatra s’embarque dans une tournée internationale caritative en avril 1962 afin de récolter des fonds pour la construction d’hôpitaux, d’orphelinats ou d’écoles. Accompagné par un orchestre réduit à six musiciens au sein duquel le fidèle pianiste Bill Miller va briller. Le célèbre cabaret du Lido, 116, avenue des Champs Elysées à Paris, les accueille le 5 juin 1962. Après une première moitié de concert réussie au cours de laquelle il met le public dans sa poche, il se laisse aller à des redites, des monologues, des citations (James Cagney), des plaisanteries parfois très douteuses (sur « Ol’ Man River » par exemple), mais il donne une version extraordinaire de « Night And Day » de Cole Porter, chanson qu’il considérait comme son « talisman », l’ayant enregistrée dès ses débuts en 1942, et cinq  fois depuis. L’auditeur juge, mais cette sixième version exhumée 32 ans après sa capture est sans doute la meilleure de toutes.
