L’affiche a vraiment de la gueule ! Sous ce sobriquet plus que parlant de Prophets Of Rage (par ailleurs le titre d’une chanson enregistrée en 1988 par Public Enemy sur l’album It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back) se cache la rencontre de trois groupes phares des années 90 : Tom Morello, Tim Commerford et Brad Wilk de Rage Against The Machine, Chuck D de Public Enemy et B-Real de Cypress Hill ! En quelque sorte un retour de la vengeance de RATM sans Zack de la Rocha au micro, remplacé pour l’occasion par le duo Chuck D / B-Real. On se doute que cet alléchant super groupe offre des tsunamis de riffs de guitares métalliques, une rythmique bodybuildée et des paroles engagées comme jamais. Il y a évidemment tout cela (Unfuck The World, Living On The 110, Hail To The Chief, Who Owns Who…) mais la vraie force de cet album est d’aller aussi dans des directions moins convenues comme avec les effluves hispanisantes puis funky de Take Me Higher. Autre point fort des Prophets Of Rage, l’association improbable de la voix de baryton de Chuck D à celle bien nasillarde de B-Real. Une approche yin et yang qui rend l’affaire encore plus originale.
