Verve

Le label Verve est un label de jazz américain, aujourd'hui propriété du Groupe Universal. Fondé en 1956 par Norman Granz, il regroupe les catalogues de ses premiers labels Clef Records (1946) et Norgran Records (1953), ainsi que le catalogue sorti en licence chez Mercury. Durant les années 1950 et 1960, le label élabore une production contrastée en collaborant avec de grandes figures du jazz comme avec le déjanté Spike Jones dont il sort en 1956 le premier LP, Dinner Music For People Who Aren't Very Hungry, et plusieurs albums à succès de Shelley Berman en concert. En 1961, Granz vend Verve à MGM pour 3 millions de $. Creed Taylor, nommé producteur, reprend le gouvern...
