Jahvillani

Delivering a more melodic take on dancehall, Jamaica's Jahvillani combines a blend of socio-political lyrics with tales of real life, as heard on his 2021 debut album Dirt to Bentley. Born and raised in Great Pond on the northern coast of Jamaica, Jahvillani grew up listening to Buju Banton, Sizzla, and Vybz Kartel. Emulating his heroes, he quickly put out his first release, "Hold a Vibez" in 2013, just two years after graduating from high school. Jahvillani was nothing if not prolific, delivering a slew of singles over the next few years that would see him become a regular of the dancehall scene. Tracks such as "Wileside Government" and "Clarks Pon Foot" cemented his position as one of the scene's brightest stars. By 2020 he was readying his debut EP for legendary label VP Records. With the release put on hold, the EP was expanded into Jahvillani's debut album. Dirt to Bentley, which saw him teaming up with the likes of Prince Swanny, Skillibeng, and Kranium, was issued in mid-2021.
