Sena

An alluring combination of Marcia Griffiths, Neneh Cherry, and Nina Simone, Sena Dagadu is a Ghanaian-Hungarian singer, songwriter, and poet. The genre-jumping artist began her career in hip-hop with the 2003 album First One, then two years later she kicked off her long list of collaborations when she appeared on Marcel's trip-hop single "Change Colours Again." Reggae came to the forefront in 2007 when she recorded a guest spot on DJ Vadim's album The Soundcatcher, then in 2008 she released the "Bun It Out" single on Da1yah Records. Later that year, her "Rebel Woman" appeared on the flip side of Jah Mason's single "In My Heart," then her spoken word skills were employed on the 2009 album W.H., which combined the work of William Shakespeare with the musical environment of the times. In 2013 her second solo album, Lots of Trees, was released through the Hungarian wing of Universal, then in 2015 she once again collaborated with DJ Vadim, this time for Grow Slow, a full album released by the BBE label.
