Ouvrir sur No Good ? Sûrement pour faire comprendre aux auditeurs que la suite sera rock’n’roll, inspirée de tout ce qui se faisait durant l’âge d’or des guitares. On comprend mieux pourquoi la série Vinyl a choisi d’intégrer ce morceau à sa BO. Kaleo marque définitivement son territoire et se montre à son aise lorsqu’il faut éclabousser la foule d’un rock gras qui tâche. Ils font aussi des ballades folk leur spécialité et la voix de JJ Julius Son, parfois rocailleuse, souvent cristalline, séduit et transporte instantanément. Des guitares épaisses accompagnent le leader et les fûts frappés lourdement donnent un côté épique à A/B (Way Down We Go). Le travail de production est énorme et le rendu ne souffre d’aucune imperfection. Il faut dire qu’avec Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon) ou Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys), Kaleo a assuré ses arrières. L’ensemble de l’équipe a réussi à retranscrire idéalement le large éventail de musique que propose le Sud des Etats-Unis. Automobile et son incitation au voyage, suggérant Kerouac, All The Pretty Girl et sa pure folk, Vor i Vaglaskogi et son chant traditionnel… Rien n’est laissé de côté et Kaleo est impressionnant de maturité pour seulement son deuxième album.
