Après Got Live If You Want It! publié en 1965, Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out ! est le deuxième album live officiel des Rolling Stones. En 1969, sur les scènes du Civic Center de Baltimore (26 novembre) et du Madison Square Garden de New York (27 et 28 novembre), le groupe britannique récite brillamment ce qu’il sait faire le mieux : revisiter avec originalité les standards du rock’n’roll (Carol et Little Queenie de Chuck Berry) et du blues (Love In Vain de Robert Johnson) et livrer en version brute, sans fioriture ni édulcorant, leurs classiques bien à eux (belles versions de Jumpin' Jack Flash, Sympathy For The Devil, Honky Tonk Women, Midnight Rambler et Street Fighting Man). Enfin, Jagger et Richards en profitent pour présenter aux Américains le remplaçant de Brian Jones, disparu quatre mois plus tôt : le tout jeune Mick Taylor âgé de seulement 20 ans ! Avec le recul des années, Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! (le titre est un clin d’œil au Get Your Yas Yas Out du bluesman Blind Boy Fuller) reste le plus beau live des Stones, le plus pur et le plus efficace.
