Né en 1943 dans une famille juive aisée, Michael Bloomfield n’était pas vraiment destiné à faire carrière dans le blues… Cependant, le talent époustouflant du jeune homme pour la guitare, et son indépendance d’esprit (deux qualités qu’il gardera jusqu’à la fin de sa courte vie) l’amèneront à se mesurer dès son plus jeune âge aux maitres du genre. Si Michael Bloomfield est l’un des plus grands guitaristes de blues à avoir foulé terre, son caractère insoumis et ses addictions auront malheureusement raison de lui… Mort à 37 ans d’une overdose, Michael Bloomfield laisse derrière lui des dizaines de morceaux comme preuve de son génie, rassemblés dans ce coffret.
