Cette collaboration entre Ben Harper et The Blind Boys of Alabama s'inspire dignement de la tradition du blues et du gospel. Un grand nombre de leurs chansons, notamment "Take My Hand" et "Mother Pray" sont d'inspiration dévotionnelle. Pourtant, contrairement à de nombreux enregistrements religieux sur le marché, l'album offre une grande diversité musicale et fait fi des stéréotypes. Mais malgré un travail d'orfèvre, Harper n'imprime pas moins sur cette production intime une fibre organique et terrestre. "11th Commandment" et "Well Well Well" nous laissent entendre la slide guitar de Harper, et son jeu mélancolique nous ramène au travail de Robert Johnson et Elmore James. Il ne faut bien sûr pas sous-estimer la contribution des Blind Boys of Alabama dans cet album. Leurs accords passionnés illuminent chaque chanson de grâce et de chaleur.
