Jeet Gannguli

Born Chandrajeet Ganguly, on May 24, 1977, in Baranagar, Kolkata, classically trained Indian music director Jeet Gannguli has made a name for himself as a score composer of Bengali and Hindi movies. After being steered into Indian classical music waters by his father Kali Ganguly and his father's sister Shibani Roychowdhury, he also completed studies in western classical music, jazz, and rock with jazz guitarist Carlton Kitto. In 2001, he kickstarted his career on the Sanjay Gadhvi-directed film Tere Liye, working as a music composer duo alongside his friend Pritam. The pair worked together again on Sanjay Gadhvi's 2002 follow-up film, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, for Yash Raj Films, also composing the music. Jeet Gannguli's career went from strength to strength after that, with the singer and composer expanding his repertoire to include scores for Hindi and Bengali films, as well as TV serials and jingles. He went on to score a plethora of movies, including 2009's Morning Walk – for which he was named Upcoming Music Composer of The Year at the Mirchi Music Awards – 2010 Bollywood film Mumbai Cutting, 2013 Hindi-language romantic musical drama Aashiqui 2 –for which he won numerous awards, including Best Music Director at three different ceremonies – 2014 Indian drama film CityLights – for which he was also enlisted as a singer – and 2020 Hindi-language film Babloo Bachelor. In 2021, he was commissioned to score the music for the Bengali family drama film Tonic.
