Rui da Silva (born on April 25, 1968) is one of the most popular DJs and producers in the Portuguese electronic music scene. Throughout the years, he has released an extensive catalog under multiple pseudonyms and became one of the most sought-after remixers in the world. An underground house legend in his own right, da Silva’s beginnings as a producer coincided with the rise of club culture in Europe. In the early 90s, he co-founded Kaos Records, the first Portuguese label to specialize in house and electronic music, alongside DJ Vibe. The pair also teamed up for the Underground Sound of Lisbon project, whose sole hit “So Get Up” received heavy airplay in New York clubs and propelled them to international stardom. In 1999, after relocating to London, he founded Kismet Records, a label oriented towards progressive house. Success knocked on his door in 2001 with “Touch Me,” a collaboration with British singer-songwriter that topped the UK Singles Chart for a week and obtained a gold certification from the British Phonographic Industry. The track also reached Number 1 in Ireland and Portugal, and earned da Silva an award for Best Single at the Muzik Magazine Dance Awards. In subsequent years, he released the albums Produced & Remixed (2002) and Praying Mantis (2006), plus a prolific string of singles via Kismet Records.
