Félix Dyotte

Singer, songwriter, and musician Félix Dyotte was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on April 4, 1981. He is best known for winning the SOCAN Song Prize in 2020 for writing actress and singer Evelyne Brochu’s “Maintenant ou jamais.” His musical career began at the age of 15 when he first started playing in different bands. His first serious group, The Undercovers, broke up and some of the members formed The Stills while Fèlix Dyotte formed a new group, Chinatown, in 2006. They released their first album, L’amour, le rêve et le whisky, in 2007 and followed it with Cité d’or (2009) and Comment j’ai explosé (2012). When Chinatown broke up, Félix Dyotte released his critically acclaimed self-titled solo debut in 2015. His sophomore solo release, Politesses, followed in 2017. A prolific artist, he also released several collaboration singles with artists such as Monia Chokri (“Amour, amour”), Kandle ("Effeuille-moi le cœur"), and Evelyn Brochu. In 2019, Félix Dyotte and Brochu collaborated on a full album, Objets Perdus, which featured the single “Maintenant ou jamais.” Although he had been nominated and lost twice before, the song won Félix Dyotte his first SOCAN Songwriting Prize in 2020. He followed that win with his third solo album, Airs Païens, in 2021.
