Um sich ein erstes Bild zu machen: Chris Dave war Schlagzeuger von Adele und Justin Bieber, Dolly Parton und D’Angelo, Sonny Rollins und A Tribe Called Quest. Sechs Namen, zufällig ausgesucht, einfach, um sich den unglaublichen Lebenslauf des guten Mannes auch nur ansatzweise vorzustellen… Dieses Mal tritt die Gang aus dem Schatten heraus, um das Scheinwerferlicht ganz für sich alleine in Anspruch zu nehmen. Das Album ist an erster Stelle ein No Man’s Land, in welchem der Begriff des Musikgenres keine Bedeutung hat. In dem sich Elemente aus Funk, Soul, Gospel, Hip Hop und Jazz vermischen, bis man keine Unterschiede mehr erkennen und eine solide Masse aus Groove formenkann, ohne dabei nur eine einfache Jam Session zu sein. Unter den 50 Musikern, die die Drumhedz bilden, treffen wir unter anderem auf Pino Palladino (Bass), Isaiah Sharkey (Gitarre), Cleo "Pookie" Sample (Piano), Sir Darryl Farris (Gesang), Keyon Harrold (Sax), aber auch James Poyser (The Roots), Stokley Williams (Mint Condition) und Shafiq Husayn (Sa-Ra), ohne dabei Anderson .Paak, Bilal, DJ Jazzy Jeff oder auch Phonte Coleman zu vergessen. Und das Ergebnis, grooviger hätte es nicht sein können, passt genau zu dieser Fusion an großen Namen: Ein Gemisch aus Sounds mit großen Rhythmen, in welchem keiner im Alleingang versucht, die Aufmerksamkeit an sich zu reißen.
