Endlich isse da, die neue Underworld. Sie haben die Hörerschaft ziemlich lange zappeln lassen, und den Release von "Beaucoup Fish" immer wieder verschoben. Gleich vorneweg: Underworld 1999 klingen alles andere als "weder Fich noch Fleich". Die Erwartungen stiegen ja mit jeder Verschiebung des Veröffentlichungstermins weiter in die Höhe. Mit "Beaucoup Fish" haben sie diese zwar nicht übertroffen, aber immerhin erfüllt. Das ausgewogene Konzept, mit pumpenden Techno Beats und chilligen Verschnaufpausen zwischendurch, wird konsequent fortgesetzt. Mann/Frau kann sich der Magie von Underworld-Songs schlecht entziehen. Die Herren Hyde, Smith und Emerson schaffen es scheinbar spielend, die Spannungsbögen auf Mount Everest ähnliche Höhen hinaufzupeitschen. Und das Schöne dabei ist, daß durch die fast schon epischen Längen, auch etwas länger auf dem Gipfel verweilt wird, sprich, es kann länger auf geile Grooves abgetanzt werden, bevor der nächste Cut kommt. Ein klein wenig Neuland wird auch beschritten. Mit "Bruce Lee" zeigt Hyde, dass er sogar zum Rapper taugt. Highlights aus "Viel Fisch" sind Shudder/King Snake (Tanzen, tanzen, tanzen, und dann vielleicht noch ein bißchen tanzen), Jumbo (Säusel, wumms, säusel) und das erwähnte "Bruce Lee" mit seinen gnadenlos mechanischen Hammerbeats. Vielleicht hätte man noch ein wenig mehr experimentieren sollen, statt monatelang am Soundkostüm der Scheibe herumzufummeln, aber wer kann bei einer Band schon "nein" sagen, die drei Überflieger-Scheiben nacheinander produziert hat??? Aber zum Schluß noch was doofes: Heißt das nicht "Beaucoup Poisson" oder "Much Fish"????

Albumbeschreibung

Endlich isse da, die neue Underworld. Sie haben die Hörerschaft ziemlich lange zappeln lassen, und den Release von "Beaucoup Fish" immer wieder verschoben. Gleich vorneweg: Underworld 1999 klingen alles andere als "weder Fich noch Fleich". Die Erwartungen stiegen ja mit jeder Verschiebung des Veröffentlichungstermins weiter in die Höhe. Mit "Beaucoup Fish" haben sie diese zwar nicht übertroffen, aber immerhin erfüllt. Das ausgewogene Konzept, mit pumpenden Techno Beats und chilligen Verschnaufpausen zwischendurch, wird konsequent fortgesetzt. Mann/Frau kann sich der Magie von Underworld-Songs schlecht entziehen. Die Herren Hyde, Smith und Emerson schaffen es scheinbar spielend, die Spannungsbögen auf Mount Everest ähnliche Höhen hinaufzupeitschen. Und das Schöne dabei ist, daß durch die fast schon epischen Längen, auch etwas länger auf dem Gipfel verweilt wird, sprich, es kann länger auf geile Grooves abgetanzt werden, bevor der nächste Cut kommt. Ein klein wenig Neuland wird auch beschritten. Mit "Bruce Lee" zeigt Hyde, dass er sogar zum Rapper taugt. Highlights aus "Viel Fisch" sind Shudder/King Snake (Tanzen, tanzen, tanzen, und dann vielleicht noch ein bißchen tanzen), Jumbo (Säusel, wumms, säusel) und das erwähnte "Bruce Lee" mit seinen gnadenlos mechanischen Hammerbeats. Vielleicht hätte man noch ein wenig mehr experimentieren sollen, statt monatelang am Soundkostüm der Scheibe herumzufummeln, aber wer kann bei einer Band schon "nein" sagen, die drei Überflieger-Scheiben nacheinander produziert hat??? Aber zum Schluß noch was doofes: Heißt das nicht "Beaucoup Poisson" oder "Much Fish"????
