En cette année 1972, avec l'album Ziggy Stardust, tout bascule ! Déluge de guitares glam, naissance des doubles (ici Ziggy, plus tard le Thin White Duke, Halloween Jack et autres Aladdin Sane) et outrance à gogo, le Bowie le plus mythique est au cœur de cet album concept on ne peut plus précurseur. Ce mutant de Ziggy, reflet parfait de son époque, choque musicalement et visuellement. Un délire qui suinte même de la plume du dandy Bowie qui érige ici une tour de Babel où Oscar Wilde, la science-fiction, Vince Taylor et tout un tas d’idoles et d’idées s’entrechoquent. L’androgynie se ressent même dans ce rock’n’roll très électrique, sexuel et mégalo au possible (Moonage Daydream). Surtout, The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars offre des chansons renversantes comme Starman, Ziggy Stardust, Rock’n’Roll Suicide ou bien encore Suffragette City qui préfigure le punk. © Marc Zisman/Qobuz
