Spencer radcliffe
An Ohio native who also mixes experimental elements and breezy melodicism in his instrumental recording project, Blithe Field, Spencer Radcliffe is a singer and songwriter of ramshackle bedroom pop. He self-released his first Blithe Field album, Old Songs/New Songs, at the beginning of 2008. Using synths, electric guitars, acoustic percussion, and drum samples, it folded off-kilter textures into songs with titles like "Attic Song," "Basement Song," and "Woody Allen." He released four more Blithe Field records -- 2010's Beautiful Wave '74, the next year's Two Hearted, 2012's Warm Blood, and a split album with Ricky Eat Acid -- before signing with Run for Cover Records.
Run for Cover released Radcliffe's singing/songwriting debut, Looking In, in the fall of 2015 under his own name. He toured the U.S. in support of the album, playing shows with Alex G, LVL UP, and Elvis Depressedly, among others. Another Blithe Field collection, Face Always Toward the Sun, followed in early 2016 on Orchard Tapes. A collaborative effort that included members of his touring band, Radcliffe's second album, Enjoy the Great Outdoors, was credited to Spencer Radcliffe & Everyone Else.
