Un an après son premier album, pour Bryter Layter, Richard Thompson et Robert Kirby sont toujours de la partie et Nick Drake accueille également d’autres prestigieux invités comme, dans les chœurs, les grandes P.P. Arnold et Doris Troy, ou, plus inattendu, l’ex-Velvet Underground John Cale. La plume du jeune songwriter comme son sens de la mélodie sont toujours aussi bluffantes. L’échec commercial de ce deuxième album pousse le jeune guitariste, grand consommateur de drogues en tous genres, vers un isolement encore plus appuyé. Island Records n’envisage guère de poursuivre une quelconque collaboration avec lui et pourtant, Drake enregistre seul à la guitare un très court disque d’à peine une demi-heure, Pink Moon. mais c'est une autre histoire ; la dernière... © MZ/Qobuz
