Interview with Charlie Winston

With Curio City, his new album out now, Charlie Winston sounds even more like Charlie Winston as the Brit singer-songwriter worked on the entirety of his album alone; alone in his home-studio in London where the album was written, conceived and recorded. Following his ascent to the top of the charts with his 2009 single Like A Hobo, he has completely reassessed himself creatively for his 2015 release. Whilst his sound could well be described as a marriage of pop and folk, Charlie Winston also ventures into soul and electro territories; on particular tracks during Curio City, he is reminiscent of Peter Gabriel, one of Winston's major influences.

C’est ainsi qu’il l’a écrit, conçu et enregistré, dans son home-studio londonien. Celui qui plafonna au sommet des charts en 2009 avec Like A Hobo se remet en question pour cette cuvée 2015. Et même si l’on retrouve ici son alliage bien à lui entre pop et folk, Charlie Winston ose s’aventurer en terre soul voire électro. Difficile aussi de ne pas penser parfois à celui qui fut un peu son mentor, Peter Gabriel, sur certains titres hybrides de ce Curio City qu’il présente ici.
