Released half a century after signing one of the most important record deals in French rock & roll history, 50 Ans/50 Standards is a three-CD compilation showcasing the best of the legendary Johnny Hallyday's output with the Mercury label. Alongside his million-selling French-language cover version of Chubby Checker's "Let's Twist" ("Viens Danser le Twist"), there are renditions of Jacques Brel's "Ne Me Quitte Pas," Chuck Berry's "Carol" ("O Carole"), and Eddie Floyd's "Knock on Wood" ("Aussi Dur Que du Bois"); a live performance of "Ma Gueule"; and a previously unreleased reworking of Léo Ferré's "Avec le Temps," originally recorded during the sessions for 1980's A Partir de Maintenant.
