Yanzi Sun

Stefanie Sun (July 23, 1978) is a Singaporean singer-songwriter who rose to prominence in the early aughts with her radio-friendly brand of Mandopop, not only in her native country but also in China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. Sun started writing her own songs during her tenure as a marketing student at Nanyang Technological University and quickly landed a recording contract with Warner. Preceded by the singles “Love Document” and “Cloudy Day,” Yan Zi, her studio debut, saw the light in 2000 and earned her a Golden Melody Award for Best New Artist. That same year, she released Desired Happiness, her sophomore effort, and followed up with Kite (2001), Leave (2002), and To Be Continued… (2003), all of which entered the Top 10 Best-Selling Mandarin Albums of the Year list. That same year, the single “Encounter,” included in the compilation album The Moment, was featured in the film Turn Left, Turn Right. Stefanie arrived in 2004 and spawned the single “I Miss Him Too,” which was featured in the soundtrack of the Japanese film Socrates In Love. Following the release of a second compilation entitled My Story, Your Song in 2006, she returned with the commercial blockbusters Against the Light (2007) and It’s Time (2011), which became the second best-selling album of the year in Taiwan. In subsequent years, Sun stayed at the forefront of the oriental pop music scene with Kepler (2014) and No. 13 – A Dancing Van Gogh in 2017.
