La chanteuse-compositrice canadienne Leslie Feist s'est d'abord fait connaître grace à son travail avec le rappeur de choc Peaches à Montréal, puis avec le collectif de Toronto Broken Social Scene, mais avec la sortie de son album magistral Let It Die en 2004, elle se lance dans une carrière solo qui éclipse rapidement ses prestations précédentes. Après son album de remix, Open Season, les bacs accueillent une véritable suite, The Reminder (2007), qui approfondit et consolide ses débuts en solo. Combinant chansons d’amour jazzy et ballades acoustiques aux accents folk, The Reminder possède la même puissance tranquille que dans le premier album solo, lui aussi feutré, de sa consœur du Broken Social Scene, Emily Haines, mais avec une touche jazzy qui rappelle Nina Simone sur des mélodies comme celle de "Sea Lion" (un classique également enregistré par Nina Simone) et le single exubérant "My Moon, My Man".
