Das Album 44/876 ist in einer ungewöhnlichen Zusammenarbeit entstanden: Hier trifft der Brite Sting, der als Frontmann von The Police und mit feinsinnigen Pop-Alben wie The Soul Cages (1991) oder Brand New Day (1999) bekannt wurde, auf den Jamaikaner Shaggy, der mit Reggae-Singles wie "Boombastic" die Charts stürmte. Herausgekommen ist dabei ein sommerliches Reggae-Pop-Album mit entspannten Grooves, bei dem sich der vielseitige Sting meist dem Shaggy-Sound unterordnet - nur eine Handvoll Songs ("Waiting for the Break of Day", "22nd Street") knüpfen stärker an die Sting-Seite an. Als Gäste sind Saxophonist Branford Marsalis, Sting-Gitarrist Dominic Miller und Reggae-Legende Robbie Shakespeare zu hören, produziert hat Shaggys langjähriger Wegbegleiter Shaun Pizzonia. Das Album stieg auf Platz 1 in die deutschen Charts ein.
