À propos

Seul véritable disque de Pink Floyd porté par la voix géniale du frapadingue Syd Barrett (David Gilmour ne fait pas encore partie de l’aventure), ce sommet de pop psychée est à des années lumières des productions futures du groupe britannique. Entouré de Roger Waters, Nick Mason et Richard Wright, Barrett entraine son public dans un rock improvisé unique, une symphonie lysergique et opiacée, où l’on perçoit du jazz (Pow R. Toc H.), du rock fifties (Lucifer Sam) et de la pop farceuse (Flaming). Côté textes, la démence pure est à portée de main… Après un tel sommet de psychédélisme, Syd Barrett enregistrera seul, deux ans plus tard, deux chefs d’œuvre encore plus extravagants, avant de sombrer dans une folie irréversible et mourir en 2006.
