Créé à Bruxelles en 1958, il fut transporté à Broadway mais fut arrêté après 5 représentations. Entre les deux, RCA l'enregistra à Rome, avec la fameuse Patricia Neway. Cet enregistrement très rare est couplé ici avec l'encore plus rare Concerto pour violon par Tossy Spivakovsky sous la baguette de Charles Munch, dans un enregistrement de 1954.
