Dust Bolt

Germany's Dust Bolt specialize in a ruthless and raw brand of thrash metal forged in the fires built by decibel-crushing countryman Kreator, Tankard, and Destruction. Emerging in the late 2000s, the band clawed its way to the fore of the European thrash scene with grit and resolution via neck-snapping efforts like Awake the Riot (2014), Trapped in Chaos (2019), and Sound & Fury (2024). Founded in Bavaria in 2007 by childhood friends with a shared affinity for all things metal, Dust Bolt's sound leans harder into the primal, raw punk power of classic German thrash than it does the fleet-footed athleticism of Bay Area thrash. The band, led by longtime vocalist/frontman Lenny Breuss, issued its debut EP, Chaos Possession, in 2010. Napalm Records recognized the group's potential and added them to its roster, issuing the full-length Violent Demolition in 2013. Having an established foothold in the metal underground, Dust Bolt wasted no time delivering their sophomore long-player, 2014's Awake the Riot, which found favor both at home and abroad. The hard-hitting Mass Confusion arrived two years later, with the like-minded Trapped in Chaos appearing in 2019. Forced into lockdown with the rest of the world during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dust Bolt focused on songwriting and emerged with a set of tunes rooted in the frustration and isolation of the times. Gritty, powerful, and barbed with deadly hooks, the resulting Sound & Fury was released in 2024 and marked the band's first outing on AFM Records.
