Noam

Noam Kaniel (August 18, 1962) is an Israeli-French composer, mostly known for his work with animated TV series. As a child star, Kaniel scored a couple of hits in his native Israel before emigrating to France upon advice from fellow Israeli singer Mike Brant. There, he dazzled audiences with his heavenly voice and the singles “Difficile de choisir,” “Une maman,” and “Lollipop,” released between 1972 and 1976. But his biggest hit arrived in 1978, when he wrote and recorded the theme song for Goldorak, the first animated series to be ever broadcast in France. The track went on to sell over 3,5 million copies, rendering Kaniel a celebrity almost overnight. That same year, he relocated to the US and worked on a series of animated shows, namely Superman (1979), The Fantastic Four (1980), and The Mysterious Cities of Gold (1983). During the 90s, Kaniel went back to France and served as co-writer and producer for top-tier French artists such as Mireille Mathieu, Hélène Ségara, and Lorie. In 1998, he was one of the masterminds behind the technopop outfit MIRANDA, whose lead single “Vamos a la Playa” topped the European charts and sold more than 2,000,000 copies globally. In subsequent years, he continued to write music for the Power Rangers franchise and other animated TV series like Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir and Glitter Force.
